Applications from UK/EU citizens are invited for a number of PhD studentships in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Lancaster University, UK. We currently have a 3 year PhD studentship, called Faculty Postgraduate Studentship available in Statistics/Probability. This pays full tuition fees plus maintenance fee of approx. £15,000 per annum (tax free) for UK/EU students. We also have a number of PhD studentships available in Statistics, Probability and Pure Mathematics from the UK Research Councils. These full studentships pay tuition fees plus a stipend for the length of the PhD. Stipend values are approx. £15,000 per annum (tax free). For non-UK but EU citizens, the studentship pays tuition only. The deadline for COMPLETED applications (including letters of references) is 6 May, 2011. Standard Research Council eligibility criteria apply. As one of the UK's most successful statistics groups, the department contains a broad range of interests including Applied Probability, Bayesian and Computational Statistics, Time Series and Extremes, Social Statistics, Medical and Pharmaceutical Statistics.
