Computational scientist The
Cyprus Institute (CyI, www.cyi.ac.cy)
is a novel, non-profit research and educational institution, with a scientific
and technological orientation, with a regional scope. The Computation-based
Science and Technology Research Center (CaSToRC, castorc.cyi.ac.cy) of the CyI,
in partnership with the University of Illinois and its National Center for
Supercomputing Applications, is developing as an important research resource
for CyI, Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean, acting as a gateway between the
EU and the region for advancing computational science and technology.
Position Description
Profile · MSc in Computer Science, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Atmospheric Science, Chemistry, Engineering (PhD preferred) · Experience in the development of parallel scientific applications · Experience in programming with Fortran and other programming languages · Analytical problem solving ability · Good communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills Additional, preferred skills include: · Experience with the development of data-intensive applications · Experience with the development of algorithms for parallel scientific applications · Experience with writing scalable codes for scientific applications
